Bethany Bezak

Chief Performance and Logistics Officer for the City of San Diego

Bethany Bezak serves as the Chief Performance and Logistics Officer for the City of San Diego, where she leads core City operations to ensure residents receive essential services which are delivered efficiently, effectively, and at scale. In this role, she oversees several major City departments, including Transportation, General Services, Purchasing and Contracting, and Performance and Data Analytics. Together, these departments are responsible for maintaining San Diego’s extensive public infrastructure, managing City facilities and vehicle fleets, awarding contracts totaling several billions of dollars annually, and ensuring that more than 100,000 customer service requests are handled efficiently each year. 

Previously, Bethany Bezak served as Director of the City’s Transportation Department and Director of the Stormwater Department, where she led complex, citywide programs focused on infrastructure performance, resilience, and service delivery. 

With experience spanning both the public and private sectors, she is known for advancing practical, implementable solutions in complex urban environments. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University, as well as a Master of Science in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is a registered Professional Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional.
