Temilade Amede
Founder and CEO of Slayth
My name is Temilade (Temi) Amede, the founder and CEO of Slayth, a beauty-tech platform dedicated to empowering people to take ownership of their hair journey through community, education, and inspiration.
My passion for hair care and braiding began out of necessity while I was in college. I couldn’t always afford salon visits, so I taught myself protective styles like box braids, twists, and cornrows. What started as a practical skill soon became a mission: to help others—especially women and girls—feel confident and capable in caring for their own hair.
Through Slayth and my educational initiatives, I’m working to break down barriers in the beauty space by making knowledge and resources more accessible for everyone. To me, hair is more than just style—it’s identity, culture, and self-expression. By teaching self-braiding and hair care, I encourage young women to embrace their creativity, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills that go far beyond beauty.
Outside of my work in haircare and entrepreneurship, I’m also a UX (user experience) researcher, as well as a wife and proud mom to a brilliant three-year-old daughter who inspires me daily.
