Rachel Nafis
Flower Farmer and Owner of Psalter Farm Flowers
Rachel Nafis is an urban flower farmer and the owner of Psalter Farm Flowers, an innovative flower farm she founded in 2019. Based in San Diego, Rachel grows seasonal, sustainably cultivated flowers for local flower shops, a 67-member bouquet subscription, and professional floral artists. What sets Psalter Farm Flowers apart is its distinctive growing model: flowers are cultivated in the yards of neighboring homes, transforming underutilized urban spaces into productive, community-centered growing sites.
Rachel has been gardening in San Diego since 2010, steadily developing a deep knowledge of San Diego's unique growing conditions and sustainable agricultural practices. Her work and unconventional approach to urban farming have been featured in the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune.
Before transitioning to farming full-time, Rachel spent twelve years working as an emergency room nurse. She officially retired from nursing in September 2021 to focus entirely on farming.
Rachel lives with her husband and their three children. Outside of gardening, she enjoys running, reading, and camping with her family.
