Sara Persson

KPBS Documentary Filmmaker and Co-Founder of Fifty Square Feet Production

Sara Persson is a KPBS and PBS documentary filmmaker and the co-founder of Fifty Square Feet Productions, a story-driven production company based in Southern California that creates films about people, community, and social impact.

Her work is shaped by a global background in journalism and filmmaking. She studied in Sweden, Italy, the UK, and Beirut, and reported from conflict-affected and crisis-hit areas, including Sudan, Lebanon, Libya, and Afghanistan. She has worked across print, digital media, television, radio, and documentary. She speaks four languages. Her work centers on telling stories that reflect real lives with honesty, dignity, and respect.

Sara is the director of Love All, a documentary for KPBS and PBS set to air in May 2026 and now in post-production, which explores community, legacy, and service through the story of a multigenerational family. Sara and her husband are also in the development phase of a new feature documentary focused on blast-related traumatic brain injury and its impact on veterans and their families.

Ten years ago, Sara co-founded Fifty Square Feet Productions with her husband, and together with their team, they have written, filmed, and directed projects in Cuba, Singapore, and across the United States for major brands and mission-driven organizations.

Sara believes storytelling is a powerful tool for amplifying voices, building empathy, and inspiring people to create meaningful change.
